Secret Santa

I've only been at my new place for a month and a half and, as is Sod's Law, got one of the girls I haven't worked much with for my secret santa. She's really nice and we get on whenever we do see each other, but we haven't properly worked together yet so I've not had chance to find out much about her. This is where my idea to knit her a mascot came in.

Please meet the PCSO Mascot!

I've got a present as well. But hopefully she'll like this! I adapted the Jane Greenhowe design for her Rainbow Babies found here and made the stab vest and radio up. There's no badge for the hat, but I think it looks like a PCSO without having to add any more to it. Plus, I've run out of time :P

Now to wrap it!

Sgt Pepper's Drum

I have failed to finish it in time to give it to the recipients today, but I'm going to show it them and then finish it as quickly as possible and then it will have to be posted to them.

I'm pretty proud of how much I've managed to do in a week, especially seeing as Knit Ditz taught me to knit with double pointed needles!

Here it is as of now, distant pic and close up. :)

Knitting School with Knit Ditz

One of the great things about having great and talented friends is they like to share. This week Knit Ditz has taught me how to knot with double pointed needles, something that I found intimidating because it looks really hard!

After two days of crafting (I did some cross stitch in between) I have my very first ever fingerless glove! (pictured). There's a couple of dropped stitches (conveniently hidden lol) but all in all not a bad effort for a first go!

Helps to have an excellent teacher who's building on the foundation my Mum laid :)

Snoopy for Knit Ditz

My first finish of the Geek Exchange between myself and Knit Ditz :D

As a challenge we started an exchange where I cross stitch geeky fun for Knit Ditz and she knits geeky stuff for me! So far, she's way ahead because she's super fast at knitting. I have two muppet cushions (kermit & gonzo) a beautiful owl called Makuku and Slytherin socks (not including the Slytherin hat scarf and gloves she already made me before we started the exchange!) so I've got a lot of catching up to do!!

Hello Fellow Stitchers!

I stitch quite a lot, but I always seem to make things that take me ages to do, so I figured I'd start a blog and that it would be a way of keeping me going during my stitching projects. A way of ensuring I finish them!!

I make a lot of my own patterns and constantly have ideas that sometimes fall outside my ability (timewise) but, hey, I do 'em anyway! What's a stitcher without a few hundred WIPs in their bag?!?

To start things off, here's my current project:

This is The Beatles Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band Drum!

Started on 17th June 2011, it has been a longer ongoing project than originally expected as it was supposed to be finished by October 2011. This picture was taken on 14th September 2012 so that didn't happen :P

I had a major fail in the first couple of months. My pattern printed off ok, then I printed the symbol key and happily set off stitching. It wasn't until I checked the photo of the drum on July 3rd that I realised the key had printed off wrong and I was using a completely incorrect colour!! This had to be unstitched (after a massive tantrum, of course) and the peice was restarted.

It's going great guns now, after having a break from it for about 6 months because re-starting it meant that I wasn't stitching very fast the other 8 months when I was picking it up every now and then. I am hoping to finish it next week so that it doesn't go into a third year before being given to its intended owners, but I always have higher hopes than I can achieve!

Watch this space, though, as I try to prove myself wrong!!
